FAQ

1. What is VoIP?

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology enables you to make and receive telephone calls over a broadband Internet connection instead of over a traditional phone line.

2. What are the benefits of VoIP?

  • Reduced local and long-distance charges.
  • One network to manage for both voice and data, instead of two.
  • Reduced travel costs, thanks to online conferencing and easy to use video calls and other collaboration tools.
  • Easily make additions, moves, and changes to the phone system as needed.
  • Employees have more ways to stay connected and customers can reach them more easily.
  • Take all of your phone system's features with you for use at home, at the office, or on the road.

3. Is VoIP stable & reliable enough to use in my office?

VoIP has already been around for many years and has now become an attractive alternative to traditional PSTN connections. We however realise that your phone system is a key component of your business and must be reliable. This is why we encourage customers who can not guarantee that their Internet connection will be stable to have a fall back solution such as a PRI or BRI connection.

4. Do I have to use VoIP?

Our system supports a full range of telecommunications protocols and VoIP protocols such as SIP and IAX are just two of them. If you do not wish to use VoIP or do not even have broadband our system can still meet your needs.

1. What is Feature PBX?

Feature PBX is a Hosted PBX (Private Branch Exchange) solution. A Hosted PBX is a remotely provided telephone exchange system that gives companies useful telephony features such call routing, call holding, call-parking, call waiting, call intercept, auto-attendant, voicemail and more. As an internet based telephony solution, this means organisations can greatly mitigate their hardware and software expenditure when it comes to telephones.

2. How does Hosted PBX work?

Hosted PBX is based on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), this digitizes the voice for transmission in comparison to conventional copper phone lines of a PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network).

Hosted PBX translates a public phone network to an IP address, and each VoIP telephone connected has a unique IP address. When a call is made the Hosted PBX switch looks up the IP address, and delivers the call to the designated VoIP telephone.

3. Why use a Hosted PBX?

  • It's a straight forward process when scaling business phone services or adding new users.
  • Remote hosting negates the need for costly and space hungry on-site equipment.
  • Precious business hours aren't lost on lengthy installation, management, maintainance, and troubleshooting of phone systems.
  • Online Portals and Phone Apps make the configuration and customisation of phone services easy from any device with an internet connection.
  • Multiple servers ensure redundancy - this means there's minimal risk of downtime during periods of hardware maintenance or server/system failure.
  • Access premium calling features at more affordable pricing compared to what one would have to pay using traditional services.
